Share your own experiences as carers
Dear all,
I hope this finds you well.
Today we have launched an action to help highlight the issues faced by unpaid carers of people living with MND under the umbrella of Covid but that touches on challenges faced by unpaid carers beyond the pandemic. The issues have been put together in a briefing document by Daniel, Senior Policy Adviser, on the team. We are putting together a summary of this and will be able to share it with you in due course.
The campaign action asks supporters to sign the open letter https://bit.ly/MNDcarers and briefly share their own experiences as carers. The target for the open letter is the Care minister in the UK and to Wales and Northern Ireland ministers. We will be do a virtual ‘hand in’ of the letter during Carers’ Week (8-15th June). Please sign the open letter and share it with your families and friends.
We have framed the letter around need to support vulnerable people during the easing of lockdown and focusing on key asks: access to testing; access to PPE, guidance for carers and financial support for unpaid carers. We know the value of unpaid carers’ work in supporting our MND community and would like to be able to take this opportunity to raise the profile of it with a public facing campaign.
If you have any questions or concerns please do let me know.
Thanks for all you do,
Francesca Monticelli
